Akaiji's new creation is an ode to the golden age of City Pop, which is currently knowing a resurgence in popularity across the world! And how could it not be? This revival in notoriety is purely justified: beautiful melodies, rhythmic & funky beats make every listener feel relaxed like they're in paradise!
City Pop has also a huge influence in vaporwave culture. Very often, City Pop album covers, related art and singers’ photoshoots are full of summer colors, which inspired us when creating this design. We've merged City Pop with the anime of the 80s and retrowave aesthetics to make this manga-style design really pop! The model for our bikini girl is Saeko Nogami, the sexiest character from 80s manga hit "City Hunter". Japanese characters read: "City Pop".
